Introduction: Aging can compromise postural balance, increasing the risk of falls, especially among institutionalized elderly. Objective: To assess the effect of an aerobic training program on the balance of elderly residents in long-term care institutions. Methods: Quasi-experimental study with 18 elderly individuals who participated in a 12-week supervised walking program. Balance was assessed using the Berg Balance Scale (BBS) and Time Up and Go (TUG) test. Results: After the program, a significant improvement was observed in BBS scores and a reduction in TUG time, indicating better postural control. Conclusion: Aerobic training is effective in improving balance in institutionalized elderly and is a viable strategy for fall prevention.
